Loren Lovitt Goltry, son of Fred and Olive Goltry, was born Nov. 26, 1907 in Russell, Iowa. He passed away Feb. 24, 1996 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 88 years old.

He grew up in Russell, Iowa, where he attended school and graduated from Russell High School. He continued his education by taking some additional courses in printing while in Des Moines, Chicago and Alliance, Neb.

On Oct. 17, 1931 he was married to Margery Randall and to this union was born a son, Dr. Rodman Goltry, and a daughter, Jerrine Andreini. He had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren which he took great delight in.

Loren retired in 1970 after working 25 years for the Des Moines Register and Tribune where he worked as a proofreader and linotype operator. He and Margery returned to Russell in 1976. He was a member of the Russell Lions Club, the International Typrgraphical Union, Communication Workers of America Locas 14715 and the Christian Church in Chariton, Iowa.

He was very proud of being an active member in the Lions Club, and also his involvement in getting the new bandstand in Russell to be a reality.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Cornise Stafford and Wilda George. He is survived by his wife Margery, his son, Dr. Rodman Goltry of Wheaton, Ill.; his daughter, Jerrine Andreini of Norwalk; his sister, Barbara LaRue of Chariton; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, 1996, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Clinton Wolf officiating. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery. Serving as bearers were Kevin Goltry, Randy Andreini, Kirk Goltry, Ryan Andreini, Robert Edwards and Paul Force.
