Frank Byron, (passed away), had done much research on the family had sent me an e-mail a long time ago telling of the first meeting of Fred with his wife-to-be,Isabelle Brower. Unfortunately, Frank passed away. I am hoping a living descendant comes forward to continue Frank's research.

Fred Ray's parents were Hiram & Julia Ann (Ford) Burritt.
Fred was the youngest of this family. His brothers & sisters were Reed, Olive, Reed, Fred D., Flora and Laura Ella.

It would appear that Fred's father, Hiram, could not settle in one place for a long period of time.
Fred's brother Reed was said to have left Illinois first & Fred soon followed.

The original story was more colorful than this short version:

Fred Ray met his future bride when they were bringing a herd of cows in and were crossing the Gunnison River.
Fred fell in and was rescued by men who worked for John Brower. They took Fred to the Brower ranch. He was in process of changing his wet clothing when John's daughter, Belle, walked in. It was said to be love at first sight.

Thank you Frank Byron for sharing your stories.
