Edward was born in Canada and came to this country (Massachusetts) with his family shortly before the 1880 US Census was conducted. On 18 Apr 1891 he married Clara Narreau in Cohoes, New York, USA. By the time the 1910 Census was taken they were in Rhodes Island with six children. They remained in the Warwick area. Clara died in 1930 and is buried in ST JOSEPH'S CEMETERY. In later years Edward moved to Philidelphia to live with his daughter, Bertha Berard Johnson.
