Nancy A. Braham

Nancy Agnes Braham, 97, a resident of Hannah's House of Marietta, formerly of Summers Street, Parkersburg, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.


She was born Aug. 2, 1906, in Wood County, a daughter of the late Daniel Matthew Weser and Ann Martha Giffin Weser.

Mrs. Braham spent many hours of her time working as a volunteer at the Willows Nursing Home, the American Red Cross and the South Parkersburg Senior Citizens. She had worked at the former Silk Mill in Vienna and was a member of the Lauckport Baptist Church, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed working the election polls in the area, was an avid quilter and loved to read her Bible.
She is survived by three daughters, Pauline "Polly" Fox Conaway and husband, Bernard, of Jackson, Mich., Eileen Dye and husband, Charles, of Lubeck and Barbara Johnson and husband, Ted, of Cutler, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Braham, in April 1965. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Asa "Ace," Bob and Ralph Weser; and two sisters, Mary Williams and Josephine Kimes.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Kimes Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. Bernard Thrash and Mr. Dennis Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens, where a memorial balloon release will take place. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family has requested that memorial donations in remembrance of Mrs. Braham be made to the Lauckport Baptist Church.
