Ralph Matthew Weser was born October 18, 1896, the fourth of seven children born to Daniel Matthew Weser and Anna Martha Giffen Weser. He grew up in Wood County, near Parkersburg, WV.

As an adult, he and his brother, George Asa, went into business together. They opened the Weser Cab Company. Besides being part owner Ralph also worked as a cab driver. While working as a driver, he often transported a group of ladies to their jobs at the Viscose Manufacturing Company. One of the ladies was Nettie Irene Mulligan. They fell in love and were married on December 27, 1937, by Rev. Pierce in Cattletsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky. The couple honeymooned in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Ralph and Nettie built a home in Lauckport, WV, and had three daughters: Dee Anna, Emma Lee, and Susan Camille.

Around 1950, the family bought a 20 acre farm in Porterfield (Washington County), Ohio. Besides working at the cab company, Ralph began farming on a small scale. He had a few cows, pigs, chickens, geese and a horse. He loved hunting and spent many hours in the woods with his faithful hound, Tally-Ho, treeing raccoons.

As his health began failing, he had to sell his share of the Weser Cab Company to his brother, Ace. Finally, on August 16, 1954, he passed away in Camden Clark Hospital, Parkersburg, WV, from renal failure.

He was buried in the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
