Linda Schaeffer, age 74, of Rose Hill, Va passed into eternal peace on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Lee County Community Hospital.
Linda was born in Lee County, VA., the daughter of the late Fred Benefield and Lucille Collins Benefield, she was one of seven Children.
Linda spent her entire life here in these mountains. She shared many good times and memories with her family and friends throughout her life. Linda moved to Rose Hill about 10 years ago and began serving her Lord and Savior by being a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She enjoyed working the ministries weekly, Church Pantry and Closet. During her working life she was a C.N.A. working for various nursing homes in the area, serving longest at Carter Hall in Dryden.
She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Jerry Benefield, James Wiles, & Merle " Hoot" Wiles, her sisters, Sue Hinkle, Mary Ellen Sweeney, and Freda Benefield. One son Art Cowden.
Left to cherish her memory one son, James "Duker" Schaeffer and wife Jennifer, a host of other, nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends too numerous to count.
Linda had some special request for her final arrangements. In keeping with her requests there will be no public services for her. She will be laid to rest alongside her family, in the Woodward Cemetery in the (Millers Chapel Section) of Lee County.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
