RIVERTON -- Mary L. Saunders, 69, of Riverton, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, May 9, 1999, at St. John's Regional Medical Center at Joplin, Mo., following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 7, 1930, at Galena, to Henry and Hazel Barnes.

She was a graduate of Galena High School and the Mt. Carmel School of Nursing.

Mrs. Saunders worked as a nurse in Joplin hospitals for more than 25 years.

She married Bill Jackson and they divorced.

She married Horace Saunders on May 30, 1982. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include a son, Mike Jackson of Joplin; two daughters, Sandie Jackson of Joplin and Debby Swalley of Pittsburg; two brothers, Howard Barnes and Bill Barnes, both of Galena; and three grandchildren.

According to Mrs. Saunders' wishes, the body has been cremated. No services are planned.
