She resided in Jacksonville most of her life. She retired from the Duval County School Board after 26 years of service. She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Ray Harris.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Ray Harris; daughter, Angela McKenna (Richard McKenna Jr.-deceased) step-son, Wendell Harris; brothers, Daniel Thornton (Anna), J.W. Thornton (Pat), Leslie Thornton, Charles Thornton, and Wayne Thornton; grandchildren, Christy, Christopher, and Cheryl McKenna, and Carmen Harris; and a host of loving nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 11, at 11am in the Chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Rev. Joe Midyette, and Rev. Archie Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery, Maxville. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
