Luella Dagamer Olsen Sullivan, age 82, of Roosevelt, Utah died August 17, 2007 at the Uintah Basin Medical Center from complications related to a hip injury.
She was born July 1, 1925 in Neola to John Albert and Clara Malinda Johnson Olsen. She married Harold Ormon Sullivan in 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Luella graduated with high honors from Roosevelt High School in 1943. She was a happy and positive person. She had a wide variety of talents and interests, including, gardening, cooking, and home decorating. She made quilts for her children, grand children and great-grandchildren. She loved to do home canning. Her canning not only tasted great but was done with beauty and order in such a way that it was pleasing to the eye. As a homemaker she was a perfectionist. Her children learned there was a place for everything and everything in its' place." She liked home design and did much of the hands-on work involved in major improvements in her homes and taught these skills to her children.
Luella worked with Ormon for 45 years in their Roosevelt based business, Sullivan's Furniture. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A partial list of her church service includes: serving as one of the first cub scout leaders in the area, Relief Society president in two wards, Stake Relief Society President, Primary teacher and she was a dedicated visiting teacher. She and Ormon were working in the Vernal temple where, combined with their service in the Provo temple, they have served as ordinance workers for 12 years.
She is survived by her husband, Ormon of Roosevelt; eight children, Susan (LaRell) Chappell, Glenwood, Utah; Karen (Kirk) Heaton, Vernal; Joan (Vaun) Ryan, Roosevelt; Paul Ormon (Marcie) Sullivan, Stephenville, Tex.; LouAnn (Kevin) Heaton, Roosevelt; Kirk Leon (Tamara) Sullivan, Las Vegas, Nev.; Ralph O. Sullivan, Clearfield; and Ruth (Craig)Jex, Las Vegas, Nev.; 40 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings, Clara Timothy, St. George; Richard (Rose) Olsen, Neola; Toni Gardner, Roosevelt; and Evan (Alice) Olsen, Neola. She is preceded in death by one grandson, Tyson Heaton, four brothers, Burnell, Clifford, Glen and Lerwill Olsen, and three sisters, Zola Spencer, Geneva Whiting and Myrtle Sorensen.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in Roosevelt, Utah. She was buried in the Roosevelt Memorial Park under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary
