Roland Roy Gressett was born to Emmanuel Gressett and Ivy Ethel Franklin August 24th, 1945 in Leon County, Texas.

He met his bride and forever dance partner Janice Sue McBunch, and they were wed in 1978. They loved each other fully for 45 years, they love each other still. They were blessed in these years with his greatest achievement, his legacy and magnum opus, his family. He was "Dad", "Deeeeeddy", "Big Daddy", and "Grandpa", but no matter the title he provided the same sage advice, warm bear hugs, and fatherly affection.

In the course of his 78 years, Roland's breadth of knowledge was amassed from his years of training in a multitude of occupations as well as his life experiences. He played football for Buffalo High School, served with the Army in the 509th Airborne in Germany, rode, trained, and owned horses, and occasionally led trail rides as trail boss. He owned his own computer company for many years, played guitar, wrote poetry, was an avid historian, participated in many motorcycle challenges including Hoka Hey, and was a member of the masons. He also toured the country with a group of close friends he met in Hamshire, Texas: the Harrington's, Bieber's, Jordan's, Martin's, and Haynes; a caravan of rv's and motor homes rolling down the highway. The tulips were lovely.

Roland Roy Gressett was born into humble beginnings, but led the life of an honorable man, a beloved husband and family man. A lifetime of adventure, excitement, and incredible memories made with those he loved most in this world. As the poem 'Instruction' by Arnold Compton says, "I HAVE FOLLOWED THE VALLEYS, I HAVE CLIMBED THE HEIGHTS OF LIFE."

Roland was preceded in death by father Emmanuel, mother Ivy, and brothers and sisters Florence, Jack, Lloyd, Olivia, and Pauline.

Roland is survived by wife Jan, daughter Kimberly and her husband Mikey, son Joshua and Sheena, and daughter Elizabeth.

Grandchildren MaKayla, Dylan, Anni, Will, Navy, and two great grandchildren Lorraine and Janice Sue.

Sister Gladys Underwood.

And many other beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
