Pauline married J.D. Holland in 1948 and resided in Buffalo, TX before moving to Huntsville, TX in 1963 where they raised 6 children. Her distinguished 44-year career as an LVN extended from the TX Dept of Criminal Justice to home health agencies caring for children with special needs before finally retiring at the age of 85.
Pauline's beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children Fred (Leigh Ann Wakefield) Holland, Rex (Mary) Holland, Faye (Thomas) Owens, Ted Holland, and Lloyd (Pam) Holland. Pauline's legacy includes 7 grandchildren, Amanda (Kevin) Holland-Ray, Amy Holland, Allison Holland, Jessica Holland, Jessie Rosenwald, Logan (Sarah Jo) Rosenwald, and Cliff McAnear; 6 great grandchildren, Logan McAnear, Felicity McAnear, Payton Bienek, Henry Smith, Lily Parton, Matthew Smith, and 1 great-great grandchild, Teigan Smith.
Pauline is survived by her sister, Gladys (Larry) Underwood of Fairfield, TX, and brother, Roland (Jan) Gressett of Huntsville, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceding her in death were parents, Emanuel (Ivy) Gressett; husband, JD Holland; daughter, Bonnie Holland; granddaughter, Taylor Holland; brothers, Lloyd (June) and Jack Gressett; sisters, Florence (Wiltz) Moreau and Olivia (Bill) Laningham.
Pauline blazed a trail by being the very first female nurse to work with death row inmates. She was an active member at Calvary Baptist Church and local organizations including Crime Stoppers and Red Hat Society. Pauline's quilting creativity and skills were amazing, plus she very much enjoyed exploring her genealogy, writing in her journals, working in her flower gardens, watching and keeping up with her favorite sports teams, and was an avid reader, especially of the surrounding area newspapers.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Heritage Oak Funeral Home, 1080 Interstate 45 South, Huntsville, TX 77340. The visitation is on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and funeral services are on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Interment services are after the funeral at Brooke Cemetery in Huntsville.
The family wants to express their deepest and sincere gratitude to nursing assistants Katelyn Nettles and Sandra Clark, Heart to Heart Hospice Care, and Meals on Wheels for their wonderful care, compassionate souls, genuine love, and undying support.
