Ashton Joseph Boudreaux

Funeal services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday February 15, 2004, in St. John Berchman Roman Catholic Church for Ashton Joseph Boudreaux, 71, who died at 9:18 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2004, in Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point, after fighting a long battle with cancer.

Interment will be in St. John Berchman Cemetery in Cankton.

Mr. Boudreaux's nephew, Vicar General Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau, with the Diocese of Lake Charles will assist the Rev. Mario Romero, pastor of St. John Berchman Roman Catholic Church, and will provide readings during the funeral service.

Musical selection will be provided by Charlotte Jopling, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be "Amazing Grace," "I Will Never Forget You" (Isaiah 49) and "One Bread, One Body."

Mr. Boudreaux was a native of Bristol and a resident of Cankton. He was a production foreman in the oil industry. Before his retirement, he had been employed with Central Industries, Dow Chemical and Apace Corporation for 15 years. He enjoyed gardening and raising cattle.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Savoie Boudreaux, of Cankton; one son, Darrell Boudreaux and his wife, Bonnie, of Cankton; one daughter, Debbie Flake, of Gulf Breeze, Florida; two grandchildren, Martine Flake and Bella Flake, both of Gulf Breeze, Florida; five sisters, Betty Savoie and her husband, Jeston, of Cankton, Loretta Savoie and her husband, Irvin, of Nederland, Texas, Leona Perrodin of Lafayette, Elvina Meche of Church Point, and Bertha Comeaux of Church Point.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide Boudreaux and the former Rena Knight, both natives of Church Point; eight brothers, Frank, Austin, Roy, Gilbert, Clebert, Robert, Alphonse and Russell Boudreaux; five sisters, Delphine Richard, Elise Perrrodin, Ethel Higginbotham, Aline Perrodin and Mina Boudreaux; and one grandson, Eddie James Boudreaux.

A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Saturday (February 14, 2004) in the funeral home by Siste Ignatius Rosario of Cankton.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Saturday and to continue from 9 a.m. until service time today (February 15, 2004).

Pallbearers will be Darell Boudreaux, Fred Savoie, Harold Savoie, Randy Guilbeau, J. C. Boudreaux and Donald Boudreaux.

Honorary pall bearers will be Steve Savoie and Harold Richard.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
