Cankton, Louisiana
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchman Roman Catholic Church in Cankton for Betty B. Savoie, age 85, who passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. The Very Rev. Aubrey V. Guilbeau, pastor of St. Theodore Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Savoie was a native of Church Point and a resident of Cankton. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of St. John Berchman Roman Catholic Church for the entirety of her life and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. Betty loved visiting with her friends, playing bingo, baking cakes, eating out at restaurants and gardening. She will be so greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Steve Savoie, Fred Savoie and his wife, Kelly, and Ronald Savoie and his wife, Janie; one daughter, Sharleen Degeyter and her husband, James; seven grandchildren, Mitch Savoie, Travis Savoie, Corey Savoie, Michelle Savoie, Melanie Savoie, Monica Musgrove, and Samantha Savoie; and nine great grandchildren, Jeston Savoie, Kain Savoie, Levi Savoie, Joseph Savoie, Christian Savoie, Savannah Musgrove, Mason Musgrove, Aurora Williams, and James Ulicnik.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeston Savoie; her parents, Alcide Boudreaux and the former Rena Castille; and one grandson, Shawn Broussard.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Mitch Savoie, Travis Savoie, Corey Savoie, Joseph Savoie, Christian Savoie, Jeston Savoie, and Kain Savoie.

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
