Leonard (jr) Ellmaker was born in Earl Twp, the 3rd son of John Leonard (sr)Ellmaker and Anna Margaret Hornberger. He was a successful farmer in Salisbury Twp, Lancaster Co., PA. He had a farm of 400 acres and a flour mill, which he conducted in conjunction with his farm. He was also entrusted to administer the settlements of many estates in the county. He served in the Revolutionary War as a private in the PA militia under Capt Hastings. On April 3rd 1764 he married Elizabeth Baker. At the time of his death, Leonard was a vestryman at St John's Episcopal Church. He is buried there with his wife Elizabeth.
