Carl E. "Kokomo" Durnil, 79, of Attica, died at 11:53 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born in Livonia on Feb. 4, 1929, the son of the late Wesley and Rozettia Mulvany Durnil. He was raised and attended school in Washington County, Ind. He had resided in Attica since 1970, previously living in Crawfordsville, Newtown, New Richmond and Williamsport.

He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean War.

Mr. Durnil retired from Harrison Steel Castings Co. in Attica in 1991. He had worked for Harrison Steel for 32 years and later for MJV Services in Crawfordsville. He had attended Hopewell Baptist Church in Newtown.

He was formerly married to Zella Powell.

Surviving are a son, Edward "Eddie" Durnil; two daughters, Rozettia (Samuel) Littlejohn and Carla Durnil; four brothers, Clyde (Linda) Durnil, Jackie (Patricia) Durnil, Michel (Grace) Durnil and Marvin (Lois) Durnil; six sisters, Anna Setser, Ruby Sutton, Hazel (Don) Moore, Edith Clark, Wilma Crowder and Dorothy (Kenneth) and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Wesley, Louis, Morris and Darrell; two sisters, Doris and Linda and a grandson, Stanley Eugene Dill.
