Mary was born in Lenoir City on March 20, 1926, the daughter of the late William Martin and Laura (Hammond) Morell. She worked at J.C. Penney for many years and dedicated her life to taking care of her family and many friends. She loved her Senior Group at Pleasant Hill and enjoyed organizing trips, lunches, and special get-togethers. She also loved visiting people to help spread a little sunshine.
She was a great southern cook and was legendary for her apple dumplings. She stayed busy helping neighbors, gardening, cooking and taking food to those in need. She volunteered to help wherever needed.
She was predeceased by her husband J. C. Shinpaugh, who was the love of her life, and son Greg Shinpaugh.
