Polly Norris, 94, of Lake Mary, Fla. formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at Springhills of Lake Mary. Polly was born in Harpers Ferry, Va. on Nov. 15, 1915, the daughter of the late William Martin and Laura (Hammond) Morell.
She moved from Harpers Ferry, Va. to Lenoir City where she lived for many years, before settling in Florida.
She was a homemaker, but in later years she became a "dividend" for her daughters classroom. She became the first official Rocking Reader.
Polly was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Oviedo, a member of the Young at Heart Senior Group and was their official decorator.
She traveled with her husbands work when he was an engineer. She enjoyed playing Bridge, traveling, and loved life. She was a great southern cook, and a seamstress, making all of her daughters cloths and identical outfits for her daughters dolls.
She was predeceased by her husband Scott Norris who worked for the TVA and for J.A. Jones out of Charlotte, N.C.
She is survived by her daughter Debbie Warner and her husband Ken and a granddog, Quincy; sisters Mary Shinbaugh of Lenoir City and Louella Norris of Loudon; sister-in-laws; Lucy Norris, Theda Norris and Martha Norris all of Lenoir City.
The family received friends Friday, Sept.10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Click Funeral Home.
A memorial service followed at 7 p.m with the Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery in Lenoir City.
