Willis Rites Held at Alfalfa
Funeral services for Vernon Odis Willis, 64, of Vista, Calif. were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at Pitcher Funeral Home Chapel with rev. Bill Dickover, pastor of the local First Baptist church, officiating. Interment was in the Alfalfa cemetery.
Willis was visiting in the home of his brother, Thomas at Burns Flat when he suddenly became ill. He was dead of an apparent heart attack on arrival at a Clinton hospital. He had suffered from heart trouble fore several years and had undergone surgery about three years ago. He wore a pacemaker.
Willis was married to Claudie Jones November 1929.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Willis, a sister and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; five brothers, George of Carnegie, Sterman of Escondido, Calif., Scott of Earlimart, Calif., Price of Anadarko and Thomas of Burns Flat, five sisters, Estel Mills and Bessie Baker, both of Carnegie, Margie Keaster of Armona, Calif., Grace Bettercourt of Viselia, Calif. and Irene Scott of Binger.
