In 1757 Boston Tea Party Participant Peter Macintosh was born. In 1773, Mactintosh was a 16-year-old blacksmith's apprentice working in the shop of Richard Gridley. On December 16, 1773, he recalled several young men rushing into the shop to get ashes from the hearth to rub on their faces. Peter would join them on the ships throwing tea into Boston Harbor. Later he enlisted in July of 1775 and served in the Continental Artillery as an artificer and army craftsman who made shoes for horses and repaired cannons. We were honored to place a commemorative marker at his grave in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts in April of 2023.
