"A pioneer in occupational therapy." In 1934, Miss MacDonald enrolled as a student at Dorset House in Clifden, Bristol. This was the first school of O.T. in the United Kingdom and had been founded by Dr. Elizabeth Casson (1881-1930), the sister of the actor, Sir Lewis Casson. In August 1938, she became its principal, a position which she held until her retirement in 1971. She was the author of two books: "Therapy and Rehabilitation", which was the first textbook on O.T. to be published in the U.K., and "The World-Wide Conquest of Disabilities."
