Funeral Rites For Lee A Davis Held Tuesday
Funeral rites for Lee A Davis well-known planter, who died suddenly Monday morning at his home near Houston, were held Tuesday afternoon at Concord cemetery with the Rev. W C Stewart officiating, assisted by the Rev. Geo. Williams. He was 76.
Mr. Davis had been in failing health for two years, but was only in bed a few days and his condition was not thought alarming. He was one of a large family, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Davis. He was twice married, his first wife, who died a number of years ago, was Miss Delia Francis. Later he was married to Miss Allie Bennett, who survives.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Clarence Davis, of Blytheville, Ark.; Charlie Davis, of Birmingham, Ala.; Walter Davis, of Lake Charles, La., and Duck Davis, of Houston; seven daughters, Mrs. Will Fielder, of Winona; Mrs. Stella Allen, Lapanto, Ark.; Mrs. Minnie Lee Hill, Blytheville, Ark.; Mrs. Lucille Pumphrey, Mrs. Ethel O'Barr, Mrs. Mae Manuel and Miss Juanita Davis and twenty-three grandchildren. He leaves also one brother, John Davis, and three sisters, Mrs. B M Smith, Mrs. Daisy Coyle, Mrs. Sallie McIntosh, and Mrs. Malvern Davis.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Methodist church since early manhood.
