Alan did join the United States Air Force a year and a half later after they were married but was sent home due to an accident. The Ogden city area has been their home for most of their married years. They did move in 1979 to Wyoming for a few years to work in the oil fields. Alan was a Journeyman Carpenter and a Master Welder for most of his life.

Alan was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and friend. He loved corny jokes, old country music and loud rock and roll. He loved working with his hands and growing a garden. He also loved oil painting, fowl and game hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing golf and darts.

Alan has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has a deep love for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He served as a home teacher, and a Sunday School President.

Alan has been an active member in the Boy Scouts of America where he earned his Eagle Scout and was part of the Order of the Arrow. Alan served as Cub Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster. He was delighted to help his sons and grandsons with scouting. Alan taught Hunter safety to many. He taught all three of our children to shoot and be responsible with guns.
