Fred W. Griffin, a resident of Dunmore died Wednesday morning in Moses Taylor Hospital (Scranton). A graduate of Nicholson High and veteran of WW2, he served as a radio man with the Navy in South Pacific. He was active in the Northeast Theater, Sierra Club, and Lackawanna Bicycle Club. In 1988 he rode his cycle across country to raise money for American Lung Association. Prior to his retirement he was a manager for Sugarman's in the clothing dept. The last twenty years he worked as a braille transcriber, translating text books for students of all ages.
He leaves a daughter, two sons and brother Walter Griffin. He was preceded in death by a daughter Marcy (1962) and son Matthew (2002), and sister Ruth DeRemer. Miller Bean Funeral Home.
