"Edwin F. Zeitz, of Cadillac, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012. He was 86.


He was born on May 18, 1926, in Boon, to Henry and Ethel (Carpenter) Zeitz, and they preceded him in death. On December 24, 1949, he married the former Florence M. Cassety, and she preceded him in death on December 2, 1992. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.


Mr. Zeitz had been employed at Chris Craft in Cadillac and later at the Wexford County Road Commission. While he was working both of those jobs, he also loved working on the family farm in the Meauwataka area.


Survivors include his children, Randy (Connie) Zeitz of Cadillac, and Bonnie (David) Sproul of Melvin, Mich.; five grandchildren, Eric Zeitz, Ben Zeitz (Ashley Gray), Caitlyn Zeitz, Leigh Edwards and Vicki Sproul; two great-grandchildren, Dillon and Austin O'Brien; a sister, Luella Trinkle of Cadillac.


He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Don Rogers, Pauline Harvey, Helen Jamieson-Theil, Evelyn Crosby, Harold Zeitz and Roy Zeitz.
