OLLIE LEROY "BUDDY" WHALEY, 82, of Duncan, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, in Duncan.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow, with Bro. Mike Peercy officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery.
Buddy was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Madison, Ala., to William M. and Florence E. Snodgrass Whaley. After schooling, Buddy joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II as a combat infantryman. He lived in the Marlow and Duncan area for the past 43 years.
Buddy retired from Lone Star Gas after 18 years. He married Billie June Bodine on Aug. 15, 1947 in Wellington, Texas. He enjoyed sharing love and laughter with his family, fishing, picnics and gardening.
Buddy loved his great-grandchildren. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Marlow.
Survivors include his wife, June Whaley of the home; a son, Royce L. Whaley and wife Darlene of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Joyce A. Pogue and husband Kelly of Edmond; five grandchildren; 5-1/2 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Effie Palmer of Duncan, Maxine Branam and husband Billy of Marlow, Christine Massey and husband Fred of Burns, Tenn., and Mattie Whaley of Lawton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Billy, Ben, Jim and John Whaley; and four sisters, Minnie Benton, Ida Neal, Lela Taylor and Alleen Palmer.
