My great uncle, William (Bill) Simmons, was the son of Jefferson Simmons, Jr. and Sarah ISAACKS Simmons and the brother to my grandmother, Hattie SIMMONS Duty.

He was the grandson of Jefferson Simmons, Sr. and Elizabeth KINDER Simmons and of his maternal grandparents, Joseph Isaacks and Elizabeth BARKER Isaacks.

Uncle Bill's siblings were Henry, Alfred (Alf), and my grandmother, Hattie. Five other of his siblings died as infants.

His mother died in 1898.

His father's second marriage to Rebecca Simmons gave him two more siblings, a brother named Tom and a sister who was named Jeff in honor of their father.

Bill Simmons married Lucinda Opal SMITH Simmons on May 16, 1914 in Canalou, New Madrid County, Missouri.

They were blessed with ten children, nine of whom lived to adulthood.

My great-uncle, Bill, was a farmer and, also, worked as a pumper for an oilfield company.

He died just three days before his 78th birthday. His survivors included his wife, nine children, grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

He is very much loved and missed by all who knew him.
