Francois Cailhol and Madeline Delor signed a marriage contract in St. Louis on 31 Dec 1781 in order to obtain approval from the Spanish Government. They were married at the Catholic Church of St. Louis (Old Cathedral) on the same day. The original marriage contract was written in Spanish and was recorded 36 years later, on 29 Jul 1818 in St. Louis Deed Book 1, page 118. An English translation was also recorded. A copy of the marriage contract, the English translation, and the church record are posted on this memorial.
