ELIZA JANE (COUNTS) SUTHERLAND, was a daughter of Noah Counts and Aily (Amburgey) Counts.

Eliza married WILLIAM BEAUREGARD SUTHERLAND, who was a son of SYLVIA (COUNTS) SUTHERLAND & WILLIAM H. SUTHERLAND.

SYLVIA'S parents were: Joshua Counts & Martha (Keyser/Kiser) Counts.

JOSHUA'S parents: John Counts of Cleveland & Margaret (Kelly) Counts.

JOHN'S parents were: John & Mary Counts of Glade Hollow, VA.

Eliza Jane's son, EJ, was an accomplished gentleman in many fields but was most happy pursuing the genealogy of the "Counts Clan" of which both his mother and grandmother, SYLVIA (COUNTS) SUTHERLAND, belonged.

Grandmother, Sylvia, regaled in telling stories and sharing memories of her fellow Counts', captivating her grandson, EJ'S, attention.

EJ, would go on to establish the Counts Family reunions, the first of which began in 1936 at Cleveland, Virginia, just a short distance from Glade Hollow, where the Virginian pioneer, John Counts, lived and died.

Under EJ's inspiration and guidance, in 1948, the Counts relations would also place a large commemorative stone in honor of their joint first Counts descendents at the peak of a hill where sandstone grave markers said to belong to the family of John Counts of Glade Hollow, lie.

EJ, did the research for the book, Some Descendants of John Counts of Glade Hollow. His wife, HETTY (SWINDALL) SUTHERLAND and son, BILL SUTHERLAND, published EJ's work after his death and son, Bill, continues to offer it through sutherlandbooks.com.
