In 1894, she married the late John H. McGarvey. For several years the couple made their home at Little Bear Valley, now known as Lake Arrowhead. McGarvey worked for the Little Bear Valley Reservoir Co., until 1904, when he opened a grocery store at the northeast corner of Arrowhead Avenue and 3rd Street, site of the present county Courthouse. He died in 1931. In 1934, Mrs. Campbell married William Carswell. Following Carswell's death in 1937, she married Joseph H. Campbell who died four years ago.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in San Bernardino. Survivors include two brothers, Fred Smithson and George Smithson, both of San Bernardino; a sister Mrs. Lena McGarvey of Rialto; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Stephens & Bobbitt Chapel. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Jolly will officiate. San Bernardino "Sun", Sept 1963
