Sam was born to Francis Marion "Frank" Denham and Bethsada Massey. He grew up close to Elihu, Pulaski Co, KY. Married Lovie Bell Hughes on Nov. 16, 1890 in Pulaski County. Lovie Hughes was only 13 years at the time. It was common to marry that young. Her daughter was called an 'old maid' at the age of 20 when still single. They had two children together; Bertie (Sears) and Willie (William).
This photo was recently found in a family member's attic (2020). It is owned by one of Bertie's granddaughters.
After Lovie's death in 1943, Sam married "Nettie" Jenetta (Vickery) Soard on Sept 6, 1945. Jenetta died in May 1946.

Sam's gravestone has long been missing. His death certificate states that his body was removed from Cabin Hollow (where he was living). The obituary states that "Funeral services and burial will be held at the Love Cemetery Thursday afternoon." He was survived by his daughter, who wrote the obit.
Sam should be buried next to Lovie (wife) and son William. William's stone is also missing.
