Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Kasota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Kasota Hill Cemetery. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Loretta was born on October 5, 1930 in Redwood Falls, MN to Peter William and Lena Marie (Schmidt) Ahrens. She grew up and went to Redwood Falls grade school and graduated in 1949 from Redwood Falls High School as an honor student. Loretta started work in 1950 at Citizen State Bank of Redwood Falls as a bookkeeper and teller. Loretta was united in marriage to Lyle L. Emerson in May 5, 1954. They moved to Mankato in 1955 for Lyle's work. In 1956 they bought a home in Kasota where they raised their three children. Loretta worked at National Bank of Commerce and American State Bank for many years. She then went to work for Kaye Corp. for 40 years. Loretta loved going to the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's football games, baseball games, softball and volleyball games, and hockey and little league games. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kasota. She helped the church on the session, pancake supper, Easter breakfast, bazaar, garage sale, and funeral luncheons.
Loretta is survived by children, James (Colleen) Emerson, Rick (Colleen) Emerson, and Linda Lorentz; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Billie Jo Gilbertson; and 9 brothers.
