Son of Thomas and Margaret Lees-Dempster. He married Margaret Templeton 26 Jun 1829, and to them were born a total of 13 children. The first five were born in Scotland, after which time the family immigrated to Michigan, where the next five children were born, including Mary Campbell Dempster. About 1853 the family relocated to Fayette County, Iowa. Here is where the final three children were born.
