Accident Fatal To Bridger Man
Services Set Sunday For J. D. Hergenrider
An accident Wednesday in which his windpipe was cut resulted in death Thursday for John David Hergenrider, 66, of Bridger . Mr. Hergenrider, a retired farmer, died at 1:45 a.m. in a Billings hospital where he was brought Wednesday afternoon after he stumbled and fell against a 2X4 while cleaning a chicken coop. The body, now at Smith's funeral home, will be taken to the family home at Bridger Saturday. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran church at Bridger. The Rev. Justice Kuring, pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will be in Belfry cemetery.
Mr. Hergenrider had lived in Bridger since 1940 when he retired from farming. Before that he had farmed in Belfry for 30 years.
He was born April 20, 1883 in Russia, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jacob Hergenrider.
On November 25, 1904, he married Sophie Dies in Russia.
They came to the United States in 1912, living in Chicago for six months and in Lovell, for three years before moving to Belfry.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church. Survivors are the widow, five sons. Dave, Alex. John, Alfred and Rudy ! all of Belfry; four daughters, Mrs. Andrew Krum of Joliet, Mrs. William Lehman of Bridger, Mrs.John Schlecht of route 3 and Mrs.Emanuel Kraft of Rocky Mountain college; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Ungefug of Belfry and Mrs. Sophie Ungefug of Germany; 28 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
