Curtis C. Newman.
Curtis C. NEWMAN, 72, veteran Valley Falls blacksmith, died Jan. 24 in a Kansas City, Kans. hospital. he was born June 4, 1881, in Valley Falls. Until he retired a few years ago, Mr. NEWMAN had spent his entire adult life in the blacksmith shop which was founded by his father, the late Vincent NEWMAN. His father operated the shop for 20 years before the son took over.
Mr. NEWMAN's wife died September 11, 1953. He is survived by four sons, Robert NEWMAN of Valley Falls, Roy NEWMAN of Blue Springs, Mo., Frand and Leonard NEWMAN, both of McLouth; twin daughters, Mrs. Sam BAYS and Mrs. Don NEWMAN, both of Topeka; 18 grandchildren; and three half-brothers, Ralph and Ted NEWMAN, both of Topeka, and Joe NEWMAN of Valley Falls.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Valley Falls Christian Church with burial in Valley Falls Cemetery.
