James Oscar Baker, 84, of 1317 Pyburn St., Pocahontas, died in Medical Center, Little Rock, Tuesday of last week. He was born Feb. 18, 1886 in Randolph County, a son of the late John Thomas and Mary Agnes Bryan Baker. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Blanch Wisehart of Myrtle, MO, and Mrs. Bonnie Harris of Pocahontas; three sons, Dr. Roy Baker of Waterloo, Iowa, Neil Baker of Dalton, and Willard E. Baker of Pocahontas; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Wm Arthur Baker of Denver, Co; three sisters, Mrs. Dora White of Dalton, Mrs. Maggie McGhee of Imboden, and Mrs. Tola Shaver of Walnut Ridge. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Rev. S. Ray Crews officiating. Interment followed in Stubblefield Cemetery under direction of McNabb Funeral Home. Pall bearers were Jess Hunter, Richard Miller, Jimmy Thompson, Edgar Brown, Fender Story, and Carl Baker. (PSH obituary)
