There was speculation that Eliza was 1/2 Indian because her mother was living on, or near the Reservation, but I did a DNA Test and there is NO Indian in our family. We are strictly British Isles (English, Irish, Scottish). 2019

ELIZA JANE GREEN was incorrectly referred to as ELIZA JANE CANNE in one of her daughters Obituaries. I'm told the birth-father could be either JOHN PARRISH or ANDREW WATKINS / WATSON. Her mother Mary Jane GREEN never married but had many children. JANE GREEN was living with WATKINS while pregnant with ELIZA. But I have reason to believe that ELIZA's birth father was actually WILLIAM PENDLETON HYDE (he was living just down the road in 1880) and followed mother Mary Jane GREEN almost everywhere she moved. After much research, I have found that there were many other men involved and each child had a different father, so, I currently do not definately know who her daddy was. Maybe even Eliza didn't know. Bastardy Bonds for 1879-1881 were destroyed in a Swain County, NC courthouse fire.
On June 1st, 1900, ELIZA "Liza" GREEN was a Servant for THOMAS and LAURA JENKINS in the Oconaluftee "Oconee Lufty Township", Swain Co, NC Federal Census. Also living there as a Servant was DAVID F. EDWARDS (age 16, b: June 1883 NC). ELIZA GREEN was not too far from where GENERAL GATES McMAHAN and first batch of children lived.
The last census that shows Mary Jane GREEN states she had 11 children with 5 living.
