PIONEER RESIDENT OF CENTERVILLE IS DEAD AT 87 YEARS

L.L. Brough, 87, pioneer Centerville resident, died at the Centerville St. Joseph hospital at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday after an illness that became very critical about one week ago. Mr. Brough made his home at 520 North 7th street, living with his daughter, Mrs. Lena Thompson.

Born in Centerville during the early days of the city, Feb. 9, 1855, Mr. Brough saw the rise and growth of this city. For many years he was active in business, operating the "Brough Tin Shop." He has not been active in his business for the past 10 years, but did not completely retire until about 3 years ago. He learned the tinnery trade under his brother John in the Joseph Goss' tin shop.

His parents were John Samuel and Nancy Elizabeth Brough. L.L. being the youngest of ten children, five of whom were boys and five girls.

Schooled in Centerville, he married Ida A. Tarbox on Feb. 18, 1878 and two daughters were born to this union, they being, Jennie Easton of St. Petersburg, Florida and Mrs. Lena Thompson of Centerville, both surviving.

The wife died in 1883 and he married Alice Armintrout in 1889 and one son was born to this union, Henry Leroy, who preceded his father in death, dying in 1916.

His second wife died in Sept. 1892 and from that time forward he has made his home with his daughter Lena.

Besides his children, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Two grandchildren and all his brothers and sisters are deceased.

Funeral services are tentatively arranged for Thursday afternoon, but the time is not definite pending the arrival of the daughter from Florida Wednesday. The body is at the Johnson funeral home at the present time.
