He is also survived by one daughter, Beverly (John) Stephen of Peoria; one son, Kenny Kooken of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Karen (Jeff) Carper of Quincy, Ill.; two stepsons, Mark (Rebecca) Jirjis of Spring Bay, Ill., and Jim (Tammy) Jirjis of Nashville, Tenn.; a great family friend, Terri Nixon of Peoria; and his pet Yorkie, Princess.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
He was a Korean War Army veteran.
Charles worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria.
