Ralph Waldo Hunter, age 90, died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at his home in Overton, Nevada.

He was born May 13, 1917 in Oakley, Idaho to Edward and Dorcas Jeannette Severe Hunter. On September 30, 1939 he married Mavis Claire Poulton in Twin Falls, Idaho, On February 2, 1945 they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2004. Ralph and Mavis lived in Oakley where they farmed until 1955, when Ralph moved to Eureka, California to work in a saw mill. He moved his family to California in May 1956. He later worked for and retired from Safeway and the US Postal Service. He was always faithful in his church callings, including in the Bishopric, High Council and as a Blazer Leader. He and Mavis served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After moving back to Oakley, Idaho, they served a mission at the Atlanta Georgia Temple. After a few years they moved to Overton, Nevada to live out their days with their daughter.

He is survived by his sons, Richard (Ruth) Hunter of Alameda, CA; Edward (Leslie) Hunter, Peoria, AZ; daughters, Kathy (Rodney) Nelson, Overton, NV; and Judy (John) Hunter of South Ogden, UT; 34 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Dale and Samuel, his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Oakley LDS Chapel in Oakley, ID. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 7 -8 p.m. at the Overton LDS Chapel, Overton, Nevada and again Friday, April 4, 2008 from 10 - 10:45 a.m. prior to Services at the LDS Chapel in Oakley, Idaho. Interment will be in the Oakley City Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, 702 398-3600.
