Robert David Blackshear eldest son of General Thomas E. Blackshear, came to TX with his father but settled at first on the Bluff above the Brazos River in Washington County, TX. Later he moved to Navasota, TX. He fought in the 4th TX Company G of Hoods TX Brigade. Robert David was educated at the University of Georgia at Athens; and was interested in Horticulture and did some experimenting with peaches and pears. Robert first married Emily Wyche (1836-1861) and then after her death married Sarah L. Foster (1843-1908). They had Robert Thomas Blackshear (1867-1930), Emily E. (married Steve A. Noble and had Steve Jr.,); William James (1870-1899) never married; Edward Duncan (married May Terrell and had one daughter, Kathleen Blackshear).
