J. P. Dempsey Dies at Home of Son, Byron C. Dempsey
J.P. Dempsey, 75, died at the home of his son, Byron C. Dempsey, 1825 West street, Monday night. He was born in Kentucky, May 26, 1857, and came to Kansas with his parents in 1863 and settled near Manhattan. He had lived in Topeka forty-five years.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hattie C. Dempsey; three daughters, Mrs. L.M. Hedges, of LaCrescenta, Calif.; Mrs. W.C. Dalziel, of Sandy, Ore., and Mrs. R.G. Sellards, of Osage City, Kan.; three sons, C.W. of Portland, Ore.; James B., of Washington, D.C., and Byron C. Dempsey, assistant foreman of the composing room of The State Journal; four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hathaway, Mrs. A.E. Huse, of Manhattan; Mrs. Margaret Hathaway, of Chanute, and Mrs. C.W. Huse, of St. Marys, and nine grandchildren.

Burial will be in Manhattan. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
