Ervin P. Hoyle Jr., 86, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Coventry Meadows LLC in Fort Wayne. He was the son of Ervin P. Hoyle Sr. and Grace Hoyle and was born and grew up in Morganton, North Carolina. Following high school graduation, he enlisted as U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He was a Staff Sergeant with the 438 Troop Carrier Group which served the European Theater. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and was a Purple Heart recipient.

He met his wife, Anita Rehme while staging for the war in Fort Wayne. He lived all of his adult life in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Valparaiso University in three years. He probably touched your life in some way if you purchased Proctor & Gamble products as that was his primary job as an adult. At one time, he had Southern Michigan, Northwest Ohio, and Northeast Indiana as territory for this company.

He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and served as an usher, greeter, counter and board member. He was also a member of Kiwanis International. He had many interests but had passion for his family, church and golf. He had a wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anita; sons, Ken (Carolyn S.) and Larry (Stephanie S.); and brother, Jim. He has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carroll, Graham, and Bill; and sisters, Helen and Elizabeth.

Service was at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Pastor Mark Neubacher officiating. Entombment was in Covington Memorial Gardens.

Memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church Building Fund.
