John was the 5th of 8 children. When John was born the family lived in Van Buren County, Iowa. In 1868 they moved to Labette County Kansas. That is where John married his wife, Mattie Powell, 10 Nov. 1883. Their son, Charles, was born there, and probably the oldest daughter, Carrie. In 1900 the family is found in Pueblo Colorado. John is a grocery merchant and Charles was a grocery salesman. They have buried their eldest daughter, Carrie, but added a daughter, Ethel. She was born in CO, in 1890. In 1903-1907, 1910 and 1911 they are in the city directory as John & Son, a grocer. John's death and burial was confirmed by th sexton for the Pioneer Cemetery (719-544-3730) on May 26, 2023.
