Scottville - Russell Barnard, age 84, of Scottville, Il. died Thursday afternoon (May 25, 2023) at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Il.
He was born December 5, 1938 in Athesnville, Il. son M.E. and Virginia Sadler Barnard.
He married Jeanette Couturiaux on September 3, 1961 in Waverly, Il. and she survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Toni Abbott (Phil) of Palmyra, Il.; grandchildren, Tiffany Walters(Bear) of Jerseyville, Il. and Cassidy Abbott of Jacksonville, Il.; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Aubree, and Ainsley; sisters, Charlene Dennis of Jacksonville, Il., and Karen Kreoger (John) of Palmyra, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jim Barnard.
Russell was a graduate of Northwestern High School. He was an Army veteran and following the military, worked 46 years for Mc Murray College in Jacksonville retiring as the physical plant director in 2006. Russell's loved horses and his love of horses was well known. He had broke well of 200 horses in his lifetime. He was a member of the Morgan County Saddle Club.
