Dexter L. Collins, 82, a resident of Buffalo, Iowa died on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the family.

Dexter was born on December 20, 1940 in Douglas County, Missouri, the son of Otis and Myrtle (Tetrick) Collins and was a 1958 graduate of Ava High School in Ava, Missouri. On December 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Joy L. Hollowell in Davenport. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2015.

He was employed at the Alcoa Company in the Ingot Plant, retiring after 30 years of service and was a former member of the Aluminum, Brick & Glassworkers Union, Local 105.

Dexter was a member of the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department for many years and in his spare time, enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a man that could fix anything and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed help.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Rhonda Collins of Buffalo, Michael (Kathy) Collins of Claremore, Oklahoma and Ronald (Cassandra) Collins of Muscatine, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Rayanna) Collins, Gregory (Cassidy) Collins, Samuel (Dori) Hutchison and Ashley (Tony) Overton; his great-grandchildren, Kelvin, Quentin, Thaydin, Beckhim and Everlee; his sister, Mary Crain of Muscatine; and many beloved nieces & nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie, Bonnie, Fena and Renae; and his brothers, Dean, Floyd and Don.
