Jesse T. Boyer was a son of Catherine (née Hersperger) and Peter Boyer, born in 1821 in Frederick County, Maryland. He married Mary Elizabeth Paine on 23 May 1861 in Frederick County.

In the 1870 and 1880 U.S. Censuses, Jesse T. Boyer was living with his wife and their son James in Frederick County's Jefferson District. He was employed as a mail contractor.

Notes

Peter Boyer's will (dated 28 Dec 1858) identifies Jesse T. Boyer as his son, and as an executor.

"The children of Peter and Catherine (Hershberger) Boyer are: 1, Jesse, died in Middletown, Md., September 20, 1893, aged seventy-two, his widow Mary Elizabeth (Pine) Boyer is still living; 2, Ezra, died in Missouri, in 1904; 3, Wilson, died in California; 4, Greenberry, died in youth; 5, Mary C. (Mrs. Daniel Arnold); 6, Cordelia, widow of James Rhoderick; 7, E-----, resides in Texas; 8, Henry, of Colorado. Mrs. Boyer died in 1844 [sic ]. "Mr. Jesse Boyer, a well-known resident of Middletown vicinity, died from paralysis yesterday morning, age 72 years. For many years he was the mail-carrier between Frederick and Jefferson, and in that capacity became widely known." ("Middletown Matters," The News, Frederick, Maryland, 22 Sep 1893, p. 3.)
