Pearl Wilma (LaPorte) Frizell was born on January 15, 1935, to Clayton W. LaPorte and Emma O. (Daniel) LaPorte. She passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield at the age of 87.

Pearl was born in rural Taylor County, Iowa, and lived on a farm there until her two older brothers were killed in an auto accident that also left her father incapacitated for a while. The LaPorte family later moved to Union county and made their home on a farm NE of Creston. Pearl graduated from Creston High School in 1953 before moving to Omaha for work. Then in 1955 she married Clare Frizell of rural Greenfield, moving to a family farm located east of Greenfield. To this union five children were born. Jim, Bob, Nancy, Sherry, and Bill.

Pearl was very much an equal partner of the family, working from home to take care of the 5 children, tending to large family gardens and ensuring there was always food on the table. Then after her children were all in school, she started working outside the home again. She worked at Greenfield Manor, Greenfield Sale Barn, Parr Manufacturing, Cardinal Glass, and finally True Value. Pearl lived her entire married life on their farm outside of Greenfield; remaining there until she became a resident of the Greenfield Rehab Center in January 2022.

Pearl was an avid game player and taught her kids and grandkids card and board games as soon as they were old enough to recognize numbers and throw dice. She also passed on her love of reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Walter and Russell, sisters Agnes Harris and Betty Molln, husband, Clare, brothers-in-law, Howard Harris, Ivan Frizell and Keith Frizell.

Pearl is survived by her children, Jim Frizell, (Helena) of Indianola, Bob Frizell (Brenda) of Des Moines, Nancy Frizell of Greenfield, Sherry Frizell of Des Moines, and Bill Frizell of Olathe, Kansas, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Isolde Frizell and Mary McInroy, brothers-in-law, Clyde Frizell, Larry Frizell, and Dean Molln.
