Mack was born McClelland Sinclair in Harrison Township, Daviess County to Ransom Sinclair and Nancy Edrington. He was the brother of Isaphene (Josephine), Mary, Susan Pearl, Mary Elvira, James A. and my great-grandfather, William S. Sinclair.

Sometime close to 1900, the family began to change the spelling of the Sinclair name to St. Clair, and McClelland became known as Mack St. Clair.

Mack married Anna Traylor on 15 Apr 1900 in Gibson County. Anna was 13 years old on the day of their marriage.

They were the parents of Mabel, Ellet, Izetta and Elvis Raymond St. Clair. Ellet and Izetta are both buried in Maple Hill Cemetery along with their parents and their half-brother Donald Harder. There is a record of birth for a female born on the same day as Ellet, which may be a twin. Searching for death record.

Mack was a miner, and was killed in a horrific mining accident in 1908. His death greatly effected his brother William who had named his oldest son after his brother.

The informant on the death certificate was William St Clare

Two Shot-Firers Killed
Princeton Indiana, January 10 -- Mack St. Clair, aged 36, and Solomon Lawrence, aged 32, shot-firers, were instantly killed in an explosion in the mine of the Princeton Coal Mining Company. Eight other men were in the mine at the time and had narrow escapes. The explosion was due to a "windy" shot, supposed to have been shot by St. Clair. The mine was badly damaged by the accident.
