In Loving Memory Of J. N. (Johnny) Johnson 1914-1998
J. N. (Johnny) Johnson, 84, of Hillsboro died Monday, December 21, in a local nursing home. Born February 19, 1914, in a rural area of Paris, Texas, he was the son of Riley R. and Arminta (Lollar) Johnson. He attended Petty School and played sports and graduated from Honey Grove High School. He married Estes Meade October 14, 1933. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for more than 30 years. Following his retirement, he moved to Hillsboro in 1974, and later secured his real estate license. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Estes Meade Johnson March 28, 1998; one son, Jimmy Don Johnson; two brothers, Hollie Johnson and Cleo Johnson; and two sisters, Stella Taylor and Eva Dell Clark.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-inlaw, Dr. John and Diane Johnson of Whitney; one sister, Loma Cox of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one grandson, John Christopher Johnson of Portland, Oregon; one granddaughter, Stacey Kathleen Barrett of Longview, Texas; two great-grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Charles H. "Pug" and Helen Gabrel.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 24, at 11:00 A.m. at Edens Funeral Home Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Dean Coultas officiating. Entombment followed at Hillcrest-Garden of Memory near Hillsboro.

Pallbearers were: Charles "Pug" Gabrel, Randal Gabrel, Jack Meade, Johnny Meade, Joe Meade, Dennis Carver, Doyle Carver, Danny Carver, Andrew Beyer, and Benjamin Beyer.
