SPRINGFIELD - Dorothy F. Stone, 83, of Springfield, formerly of Morton, passed away Thursday March 13, 2008, at St. John's Hospice.
She was born March 1, 1925, in Joliet, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Riffel Maren. She married Wayne R. Stone on May 2, 1959, in Joliet, and he preceded her in 1995.
Mrs. Stone worked for Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont for 10 years as a computer programmer and had previously worked for Caterpillar as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Morton, where she served in the Altar and Rosary Society, and St. Agnes Church in Springfield. She would spend part of each year in Destin, Fla., where she was a member of Santa Rosa Beach Club in Santa Rosa, Fla., and Sandestin Beach Club in Sandestin, Fla.
Services will be held Monday, March 17, 2008, at St. Agnes Catholic Church 245 N. Amos Ave., where friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. with Father Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., at a later date.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or St. John's Home Health Care.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Road, Springfield.
